One of my favorite places in the whole trip was the Alto Adige (Sudtirol): the Alps in Italy right next to Austria. It's a bilingual area: every town has both an Italian (and a German) name. We stayed near the small city of Bolzano (Bozen), in the little village of San Genesio (Jenesien).
