The original idea for this trip was to stay with friends in southern France. We figured, several months earlier in October 2006, that since we'd be in the area, we'd try to get a reservation at El Bulli, considered by some to be the best restaurant in the world. To our amazement, we were lucky enough to get one, and much of the trip was scheduled around this opportunity.
It also gave us another chance to visit the Dali museum, which was closed both times we tried to go there in 1997.
