Our camp centered around bitnet.cx, an online community of our friends. It was located on the Esplanade, Black Rock City's "main drag", in Sanctuary Village. We had a Rubik's Cube up at the front, and we provided the Igloo Lounge, a "chill space" made out of a white tarp, with snowflakes, cool drinks (sake mojitos and cucumber coolers) and chill music. It was quite popular, filling up each evening with friends and Burners who wandered in to check it out.

The camp next door was the Pinhole Camp, which had a large camera obscura that took pictures of people. You had to hold still for about two minutes. We took a group shot on the last day, and this is how it turned out. [This is just a snapshot of the negative (turned positive) -- we'll update it with a scan of the real thing.]

The weather was pretty nice overall, but whenever there was any wind there was a lot of dust blowing around. All of our arm hairs became gray with playa dust.

Skot, one of the main forces behind bitnet.cx and Hack.Playa.

Adam, who with Skot designed and built the cube and the lounge; and Boris, who worked for Burning Man as a radio dispatcher during the festival and the week before.

Tollef, another bitnet.cx founder, and Emmett, who came up from LA.

Alex, who designed the drinks and made the music happen.

Tawnya's friend Chad. This blue light came from the tarp over our van.

Sanctuary Village also had a "chill space" called the Om Dome, which was carpets, pillows on the floor, a Buddha in the middle, nice decorations, and an air conditioner.

Andie Grace - "Action Girl" - a friend of ours who works all year for Burning Man as press liaison. The day the Man burned was her birthday and her first time skydiving.

We took down the camp on Sunday.

Here's sunset over the Vanagon (which I sold last year but borrowed back because it's really the perfect place to stay).
